Roberto Firmino has been banned from driving for one year and has been fined £20,000 by the Liverpool City court.
Firmino admitted to drunk-driving on 24th December after being arrested by the police on Christmas eve. The Brazilian was found driving on the wrong side of the road next to Hanover street. Firmino was expected to miss the Chelsea clash after being summoned by the Liverpool Magistrates Court. The date of hearing was postponed and the verdict was announced earlier today.
The Brazilian said, “I apologise, without reservation, to the club, the manager, my team-mates and the supporters for putting myself in this situation. What I have done is wrong and sets a bad example.”
Firmino added, “I promise to everyone in the LFC family that I will learn from this mistake, learn from this experience, and not repeat it in the future.”
Liverpool Football Club also issued a statement saying, “The player has been disciplined by the club for his actions and reminded of his responsibilities for the present and future. The nature of this action will remain private, however it does not impact on his availability for selection for matches.”
Firmino received 6 points on his license today after being charged with drink driving.
