French sports publication, Le 10 Sport has recently revealed that France international and Real Madrid ace defender, Raphael Varane is on the verge of exiting the Santiago Bernabeu after falling down the pecking orders in recent seasons. His exclusions from both legs of the Champions League semifinals against Manchester City made his frustrations reach the peak, and that looked like the last straw that broke the camel’s back. He will push for a summer move at the end of the season, with Old Trafford the most likely of next destinations. The youngster is aware his chances of breaking into the first team again are now slimmer, and he is frustrated of being on the bench week in week out.
Having arrived Bernabeu via the recommendation of Zidane himself seasons ago, it doesn’t look like he has convinced his childhood hero enough, as the new handler has continued with the veteran duo of Pepe and Ramos as the central back options. Mourinho taking over the Old Trafford will see the Red Devils push for a move, as the Portuguese is very keen of the 23-year-old, replacing Pepe with him in his lineup while in charge at Madrid. He had tried to make a push for Varane’s transfer while at the Stamford Bridge, but it fell through. If he is appointed coach, Varane will most likely arrive, and that will be a great solution to the club’s lack of quality central backs.
