Atletico president quashes Greizmann rumors, calls Manchester United a small club

Enrique Cerezo has dismissed reports linking Griezmann to Old Trafford jokingly calling Manchester United a small team.

Antoine Griezmann has attracted a lot of interest world wide following a string of world class displays over the years. The Frenchman has been consistently doing the rounds of transfer gossips with Manchester United keen on securing his services. He has scored 15 goals in 31 appearances for Atletico Madrid this season. He also starred for France at Euro 2016 and received widespread plaudits for his exploits.

Antoine has scored 51 goals for Atletico in 92 appearances while scoring 14 times for his national team in just 39 appearances. He won the Golden Boot at Euro 2016 alongside being named the best player of the tournament. He came third in the Ballon d’Or 2016 behind Ronaldo and Messi.

Antoine remains Manchester United’s priority signing this summer. Griezmann could cost anywhere around £90m if United are to land him at Old Trafford. His boyhood hero is known to be David Beckham, reason why he admires No. 7 and wears long sleeves shirts. He reportedly teased the Red Devils fans by asking his compatriot Paul Labile Pogba about life at Manchester United.

“Manchester United?” Atletico president Cerezo said when asked about Griezmann’s potential exit by reporters. ‘Small team’, he jokingly added.
