“THE LION IS STILL ALIVE!”: Ibrahimovic continues to frustrate fans, still NO news on contract extension

Ibrahimovic - lion roarROAR LIKE ZLATAN: Will Ibrahimovic sign a contract extension at Manchester United?

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has avoided another interview without confirming his future plans ahead of the summer. The Manchester United forward reinstated his credibility in England in an interview with BT Sport ahead of their clash with Everton. Ibrahimovic scored his 27th goal of the season last night but the annoying run of draws at home continued.

The Swede arrived at the club with a one-year contract along with an option to extend for another season. His contract expires in the summer and the delay in his commitment has left the Reds worried. United have been heavily dependent on him throughout the season and his goals have bailed them out at so many occasions. Zlatan has led his side’s 20-match unbeaten run but the draws at Old Trafford have been disappointing.

Despite being the outright top-scorer for Manchester United under Mourinho, Ibrahimovic has been guilty of missing a good number of golden chances as well. He has operated as the lone striker for majority of the season but his goals-to-shots ratio is shocking. The fact that his conversion rate is worse than almost all the other top goalscorers in England is enough to prove his poor numbers.

Ibrahimovic has been linked to a move to MLS side LA Galaxy as his eventful career comes to a close. Reports also suggested that the talisman has agreed a summer move despite his prolific start in Manchester.

THE SWEDE HAD THIS TO SAY IN HIS INTERVIEW WITH BT SPORT:

“I came here as a 35-year-old. Everybody thought I was in a wheelchair. What happened? The lion is still alive and that’s the way it is.

I have proved what everyone has said is wrong. I don’t hear the talk any more, it is not fun any more, because the haters became like fans and even like believers.”

“I am 35, 36 in a couple of months, which is proven as just a number. I keep going and make the other one look older than me. I know the Premier League is begging me to stay. I came here, I said I needed one year and it took me three months, what I wanted. How I feel today, I don’t know if I will feel like this next year.”

I am a lion. The table is not lying. The team is where it is because it is where it is.”

Only time will tell what the Swedish legend has on his mind as Manchester United look to regain European pride next season. United are currently fifth in the league, four points behind their Manchester rivals and Zlatan would be determined to earn a top-four spot for his team. His decision to stay at the club holds massive importance as Mourinho looks to rebuild his side for next season.
