Just as Liverpool were flying high with belief and confidence, they were dealt with the Coutinho blow which has evidently hampered the attacking shape of Klopp’s juggernaut. Danny Ings is out for the season. Daniel “Glass” Sturridge remains as brittle as ever. Sadio Mane, who has had a fantastic start to his Anfield career will be leaving for Africa Cup Of Nations AFCON in January 2017.
Klopp has hinted that he may look to bring in reinforcements for his forward line in January but Ojo revealed Klopp has told him he is in line for a chance in the first team once he has proven his match-fitness.
Sheyi Ojo was recalled from his loan spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers in January 2016. He made his debut as a substitute against Exeter in an FA Cup game that ended 2-2. Ojo scored his first goal in the replay and made a few promising appearances in the league. He suffered a tragic back fracture which kept him away from first team training at Melwood until mid-November.
Ojo is back in training and is aiming to cement a key role in Jurgen’s juggernaut, and perhaps saving him millions potentially. The 19-year-old completed his first 90 minutes of the season in the U23s’ 1-1 draw with West Brom on Tuesday.
He told the Liverpool ECHO: “[Klopp] has mentioned to me that he wants to give me an opportunity which is nice.
“I’m grateful for that because as a young player you don’t get many opportunities at a massive club like Liverpool.
“So I have to knuckle down, keep working hard and get as many minutes as I can with the reserves and try and prove to the manager that I’m ready. Hopefully I’ll get my opportunity soon.”
With the most hectic period in English football approaching, the youngster will certainly get that opportunity.
Can he rise to the occasion?
