Perfect gift: the Blues want to get this fine defensive midfielder for incoming coach

With Italy national team’s coach, Antonio Conte set to take over at the Stamford Bridge dugout from next season, it is only right for the club to provide him with the best quality players there are, as they plan to return to dominance in the top-flight division after what has been a disastrous season. Being a team that relies primarily on defensive midfielders for the dictation of play, the West London side are looking at a new signing for that position.

And Roma’s Radja Nainggolan is being targeted for a Summer transfer. The Belgian powerhouse has taken his great form to another level this season, showing what he is capable of doing in their short Champions League campaign and helping to keep the Serie A 3rd-placed team’s scudetto dream alive. As the future of John Mikel Obi and Nemanja Matic at the Stamford Bridge not quite promised, Radja would come in handy as a great replacement and competition. Not only can he anchor the midfield effectively well, his attacking qualities come to fore every now and then; proven with his goal-scoring abilities.

Chelsea’s only visible and feasible hurdle at the moment as far as successfully signing him would be their new coach’s former side, Juventus. The Old Lady also want the services of the Belgium international and are in the race to land him for the 25-million Pound tag placed on his head. But the 27-year-old could prefer the move to the EPL for the purpose of new competition and challenge in what is arguably the best league in the world.
