Mourinho’s former charge urges Manchester United to go for the Portuguese as their next coach

Since the Special One got out of job a couple of months ago, Old Trafford has constantly been touted as his next stop by almost everybody. Yet, less than 2 months before the season ends, Louis van Gaal still remains at the dugout. And it is still believed the Dutch veteran would be shown the exit if the season ends on a low for the Red Devils. Mourinho still remains a prospective candidate for the likely-soon-to-be-available coaching role at the Theater of news, and a former charge of his, Carlo Cudicini believes the veteran tactician will fit perfectly into the United system. He asserts,

” It is a great team and he is a great manager, so why not? But I don’t know if it will ever happen “

Despite ending his Stamford Bridge career as second fiddle to Petr Cech under Jose, the retired shot-stopper still holds his ex-boss in high regards and continues to sing his praises. The 56-year-old was shown the way out of Chelsea after he failed to retain the team’s winning mentality despite clinching the title last May. But his pedigree continues to speak for him, and he is still widely regarded as one of the best handlers around.

Manchester United have had a fair share of success this season, sitting 6th position on the log and still in the race for the F.A Cup as they face West Ham in the semi-finals after the international break. The club has been beleaguered with injuries all season long, and can only reflect on the great performances of their newly-promoted youngsters as one of the highlights of the current campaign. A new coach is likely to emerge next season if the club fails to meet up to the expectations at the end of the season, and Mourinho remains a possibility.
