If the crop of promising youngsters at the Theatre of Dream could have their way and say in who becomes the next coach, they won’t be going with the media’s choice. General consensus has it that Jose Mourinho will take over the dugout from Louis van Gaal next season, as the club is ready to show the Dutchman the exit if he fails to finish in top four at the end of the season. But the youth players’ choice is Ryan Giggs regardless of where the club finishes at the end of the season.
A source revealed that despite giving the likes of Marcus Rashford, Axel Tuanzebe, and Timothy Fosu-Mensah first-team opportunities of recent, LVG doesn’t have a cordial relationship with the youth team players, and they believe his style of coaching is outdated. They prefer assistant coach, Giggs as the head coach, as the ex-Wales international inspires them and gives them tips on what to do and what not to. Alongside under-21 coach, Warren Joyce, Giggs relates with them, and they believe the club will do well with him in charge.
Mourinho isn’t an option either. The Portuguese aren’t keen about handing chances to youngsters, and his preference remains more experienced and older players. They are aware of how their mates at Chelsea hardly see a chance to be involved in the main action, and they know such fate awaits them if he is appointed the coach. Grandpa Gaal and no-youth-players Mourinho are clearly not going to get a chance to manage United if the youngsters could call the shots, but unluckily for them Ed Woodward does.
