“This Liverpool player would’ve won the Balon d’Or if only he did this”, agent reveals

Since 2009, the duo of Messi and C.Ronaldo has shared the prestigious Balon d’or between themselves. The Argentine, currently the holder has 5 of them to himself, while Ronaldo has won it thrice. However, Super agent, Mino Raiola believes one of his agents would have picked a couple within the past years if only he approached the game differently. Liverpool’s Mario Balotelli, at AC Milan on loan only needed to have a Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s mindset and approach to the game to have made Messi’s and Ronaldo’s total tallies reduce, according to Raiola.

As reported by The Daily Mirror, the Italian agent revealed to Speaking to GQ Magazine,

“Balotelli? If he had the head of Ibrahimovic, Messi would have less Balon d’Ors.”

While at Manchester City and at the Euros 2012, the Italy international striker looked set to become the next best thing as far as football goes, but series of off-pitch events and his attitude to play have seen a once-promising career head south of recent. In 2 seasons of league football, the 25-year-old has only notched 2 goals – a far cry from what was expected from him when he arrived Anfield in 2014 for £16million.

After an unimpressive loan term at the San Siro, a return to Liverpool is no longer on the cards as Klopp isn’t willing to recall him. The Reds are looking at quality options to replace the Italian in the attack department once the Summer transfer window opens. The futures of Sturridge and Benteke at Anfield have also come under doubts following recent fallout with the coach. The German is hoping to strengthen his attack with quality strikers ahead of the new season, and a would-have-been world best player isn’t part of his plans.
