Liverpool handed major injury boost: Earlier-ruled out star player could be back against Villareal

With a 1 – 0 deficit from the Europa League semifinals 1st leg to overcome, Jurgen Klopp could do with a couple of his unavailable players when the team hosts Villareal at Anfield in the return leg on Thursday. A depleted squad via injuries and drugs suspension has seen the team fall apart in recent games, losing 2 games in a roll and drawing 1 despite being 2 goals up at half time. Their slight chance of a top-four finish in the EPL has been ruined in the process, and their only chance of featuring in next season’s Champions League depends on how they respond against Villareal.

One player who could help change how proceedings go during the game is Emre Can as reported The Sun. Earlier ruled out for 6 weeks after he picked up a knock during the Dortmund game, Klopp has been handed a major injury boost with the return of the midfielder to training. As expected, he will not be rushed back to action, but his early return has come as a surprise to the medical department. The 22-year-old completed training on Sunday, and looks set to be fully fit for selection come Thursday.

Per adventure he doesn’t make a return against the Yellow Submarines, Can will be available for the remaining league games as Liverpool will be hoping to qualify for the Europa League by sealing a top 8 finish. His Euros 2016 berth is also guaranteed after it seemed earlier he could be missing out.

Danny Ings is another player who could still see action this season, as the former Burnley player has also returned to training for the first time since October. Divock Origi however is yet to return to training as his rehabilitation process continues.
