Liverpool and Dortmund to do battle over Klopp’s former favorite player by Summer

The coming transfer window promises to be interesting for the Merseyside Reds, as Klopp definitely has plans to rejuvenate his squad. Currently sitting 9th on the log, the Anfield outfit risks losing out of the Europa League qualifications for next season and their performances have lacked consistent quality. The German handler sure needs the changes badly, and enters one of his former charges. Germany international and Bayern Munich player, Mario Gotze is being linked with a reunion with his former coach while at Dortmund, Klopp, and Liverpool are keen on bringing him to England by Summer.

But despite the transfer looking like a very realistic target, latest developments could hinder it all. Borussia Dortmund are interested in bringing back the World Cup winner to the Signa Iduna Park by Summer after finding himself become more of a bench-warmer at Bayern Munich. Although, frequent injuries have been a blight of what could have been an otherwise great career for the youngster so far, he is seen as surplus to requirements and currently down the pecking orders. Pep Guardiola continues to ignore him, and even with Ancelloti set to arrive Allianz Arena come Summer, he isn’t guaranteed a starting place. Leaving is his best bet.

So where would/should it be? Returning to Dortmund, where he started his career wouldn’t bring any challenge. And most of the fans are still not happy with him for moving to a rival club not quite a while ago. Currently worth 31 million Pounds, Gotze could favour fresh challenges at a new league and choose to move to Liverpool where he is more certainly guaranteed a starting place. Only by Summer would his decision be revealed, but the guess here is Gotze will prefer that Liverpool move.
