Is this the move that finally confirms Mourinho as Manchester United’s next coach?

After several weeks of suggestions, rumours, claims and counter-claims, finally, Jose Mourinho will take charge of the Red Devils next season. It isn’t official yet, but there might not be a reason for the long wait to continue following latest developments. The 56-year-old is prepared to take over, and this is no mind game. He is already looking for an apartment in the city of Cheshire, and that surely means something positive is going on underground. Jose isn’t the type that will go that far if something concrete isn’t on ground.

It is believed a deal could be officially finalized this week, as that is the only reason an announcement to the effect of his appointment isn’t forthcoming yet. A verbal agreement is in place, but the former Porto handler wants a written document to the effect. And that is obviously underway. The controversial figure has been a free agent since December when he was shown the exit door at Chelsea, following a string of poor performances by a side that had lifted the league trophy few months ago. The in-demand coach chose to remain out of work. For one reason.

He was very certain the Manchester United job awaits, and was even touted to take over almost as early as the beginning of the year, but the management decided to let LVG finish the season with the club. The Red Devils haven’t been entirely convincing with the victories this season, edging rivals out with a goal lead in most cases. Without a trophy to the club’s name, since he took over after the 2014 World Cup, it is believed the Dutch coach doesn’t have what it takes to help guide the club back to glory. And the proven Jose Mourinho knows how to win trophies. That makes him the best man for the job.
