The former Atletico Madrid goalie has attracted immense interest from Real Madrid over the years. The 11 times European Champions almost signed De Gea in 2015, only for the deal to fall through courtesy an administrative failure.
Real Madrid are currently serving a transfer ban for allegedly signing young players in an illegal way, including Zidane’s sons. The transfer ban was reduced in December and Madrid can buy players starting from the summer of 2017. Keylor Navas has been cagey at times this season and the Bernabeau faithful have admired De Gea’s exploits for far too long.
