Manchester United’s fall from grace has been one of the most surprising football stories in recent times. From being the team to beat both at home and on the European front, the Red Devils have become vulnerable and easy to defeat since Sir Alex Ferguson left the dugout. Not a single trophy or a close shave with one since then, and Louis van Gaal doesn’t look like one up to the task of helping them regain lost glory. As doubts continue to loom over who will be in the Old Trafford dugout next season, EPL legend and World Cup winner, Henry Thierry has revealed whom he thinks can take United back to the top.
Jose Mourinho. Despite a general belief that the Portuguese is succeeding LVG after the season ends, Sir Alex Ferguson’s recent comments publicly backing the Dutch handler to remain until next season has thrown more doubt on the possibility of the erstwhile Chelsea taking charge at the Manchester club. But Henry warns that Mourinho is the only top coach available that can help the club get the big wins again. Not to rubbish LVG’s period at the Theater of Dreams, Henry admits the 64-year-old’s C.V speaks for him, but he isn’t the man for United.
Having won major trophies with Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid, Mourinho is still widely regarded as one of the best handlers around, and despite leaving Chelsea in pitiable and wrecked conditions before being sacked, Henry says he is still synonymous with success and has an excellent solution to United’s problem.
