“Don’t join Manchester United”, teammate tells highly-rated Summer target

The Daily Star has revealed that a PSG player isn’t particularly keen on the Zlatan Ibrahimovic to United links. The Swedish giant striker is in his last year of his current contract at the French champions, and hasn’t agreed to a deal extension. A move away looks almost certainly guaranteed, and Old Trafford has been touted a likely destination amidst others. Italy international and PSG midfielder, Marco Verratti isn’t keen on seeing Zlatan leave as he claims the club won’t easily see a worthy replacement of equal quality for him. In his words,

“I always tell him to stay, but he never answers. He and the club will see. I, like all my team-mates, want him to stay because he’s had an extraordinary season. I don’t see anyone stronger than him.
He’ll make a decision soon.”

The 34-year-old has notched 44 goals in 47 appearances this term, and his goal-scoring exploits helped the club to a local treble. However, he was unable to guide them past the quarter finals of the Champions League and will be looking at winning the European trophy elsewhere before hanging the boots. With Mourinho a likely candidate for the United job, Zlatan’s chances of ending up at the Old Trafford are high as a reunion between both coach and player looks certain. Manchester United have scored less goals this season compared to recent seasons, and clearly a proven striker is needed.
