David de Gea could still leave this Summer. United are readying this World Cup star as potential replacement

A move to Real Madrid hasn’t been completely ruled out for Spain international and Manchester United goalie, David de Gea. After his deal to seal a move to the Santiago Bernabeu fell through minutes to the close of the Summer transfer window, it wasn’t guaranteed that he would reject another opportunity to return home when, not if, it presents itself again. And United are planning for the rainy days. Despite acquiring Argentine goalkeeper, Romero during the Summer transfers, they still want a more assuring hands in between the sticks.

The club wants Uruguay international shot-stopper, Fernando Muslera at the Old Trafford as Degea’s potential replacement. Having earlier kept tabs on the 2010 World Cup star, the Red Devils aren’t new to the Muslera links. Sir Alex Ferguson had seen him as the best replacement for Van der Sar during his closing days at Old Trafford, but the 29-year-old chose to remain in Turkey. Now a club legend and fans favorite at Galatasaray, he has gone ahead to grab 193 appearances under his belt.

However, the Turkish giants are ready to cash in on him now when he still has market value, and reports say United can get him for 10.5 million Pounds. The Champions League veteran came into global prominence at the World Cup in South Africa, as he made saves after saves to help guide the South American country to a 3rd-place play-off. 6 years later, the veteran is still regarded as one of the best hands in the game. He sure can provide quality services for United, with or without the Spanish keeper in the fold.
