Manchester United recently lost summer-target and highly-rated central back, Mats Hummels to Bayern Munich and are only left with few vacant quality options. France international and Real Madrid defensive ace, Raphael Varane has been forever linked with an Old Trafford move. The first time was in 2011 while Sir Ferguson still reigned. However, the Red Devils ended up with Phil Jones, with Varane moving to the Santiago Bernabeu.
His recent lack of playing time has however led to talks linking him with a sure summer exit. The 23-year-old has increasingly grown frustrated with being a squad player, and wants out despite still having some years left on his contract. Despite news making rounds that the Old Trafford is his next stop, The Daily Express revealed that Varane will only consider the move on one condition: Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese is in contention for the United job, and has been promised the coaching position if a top-four finish isn’t achieved by LVG.
Mourinho and Varane worked together at Madrid, and the youngster was his favorite, ahead of Pepe. Varane eyes a reunion, and so does Mou. After proposed move to Chelsea failed, Manchester United is probably the last opportunity the 2 would get to work together following the latest developments. A transfer fee circa £30million will see the centre back leave Madrid for United, but it must be to the waiting arms of the Special One.
