Chelsea given greenlight as highly-rated young defender suggests he is available for a Summer transfer

With John Terry set to leave Chelsea at the end of the season, the club continues to search for a worthy replacement for the Blues skipper. The West London defence would no longer remain the same without the ex-England international, and fresh legs are needed. After having failed thrice to get Everton’s John Stones last Summer, the defending champions are looking elsewhere, and they might need to look no more with PSG’s central back, Marquinhos giving a green light as per his availability come Summer.

The young Brazilian was targeted last Summer, but he stayed with the Ligue 1 side hoping to seal down a starting place in the star-studded backline. However, he remained behind the duo of Silva and Luiz in the pecking order. He is now ready to move, having not ruled out a move away from Paris at the end of the season saying,

“My future is in Paris? At the moment, yes. But I can only speak of the present”

Despite his possible availability, Chelsea will have to battle Barcelona for the signature of the defender. The Liga champions have always kept a tab on the situation of the South American, and would be ready to pursue his services once he is declared available. Marquinhos has already picked up his 3rd Ligue 1 trophy with PSG this season since his arrival from Roma 3 seasons ago. But with his future not secured at the French capital, a move away is on the books. And Chelsea would definitely be on alert not to miss out on him again.
