The Sunday Express reveals that the Red Devils are set to lose legend and assistant coach, Ryan Giggs by summer if Jose Mourinho is appointed coach. Recent reports claim the Portuguese will take over regardless of even a top-four finish and F.A Cup trophy by LVG, and that won’t go down well with Giggs. The ex-Wales international has been assistant coach since Ferguson left, working with both David Moyes and LVG. But working with Mourinho won’t be an option as even the erstwhile Chelsea handler will arrive Old Trafford with his own assistant and backroom staff if appointed.
The likes of Scholes, Neville and Ferguson looked to have advised Giggs to move on and manage a club all by himself, and despite having little experience, he won’t be short of options once vacant. He was seen as the one to takeover from van Gaal once the Dutch coach came to the end of his contract, but that doesn’t look any more likely after another disappointing campaign. United are currently in 5th position and are edging closer to a 4th place finish after keeping close with a narrow win over Norwich on Saturday. But that may no longer matter as LVG’s job is still on the line, and inadvertently, Gigg’s.
