Spanish giants, FC Barcelona are still on course to win the Champions League trophy this season for one single reason. Luiz Suarez. Atletico Madrid looked set to stretch Barcelona’s defeat to 2 after former Liverpool striker, Fernando Torres first put them through on goal. But thanks to another ex-Liverpool striker, the defending champions came from behind to pick all 3 points at home via his brace. Suarez has now scored 47 goals across all competitions this season – one more than the whole Liverpool squad’s 46.
But Barcelona isn’t content with having only him as the latest Liverpool’s import. They now want Brazil international, Philippe Coutinho. Again. They had tried to lure him to the Camp Nou last Winter, with former club star, Ronaldinho declaring that the 23-year-old as a perfect fit for Barcelona. But nothing materialized. The star forward rather went ahead to put pen to paper for a contract extension and an improved deal at Anfield in January 2015. He is currently tied down at the club until 2020, but that hasn’t stopped Barcelona from looking his way.
Despite spending few weeks sidelined through injuries, the South American ace has bagged 10 strikes in 33 appearances for the Reds this season. With Coutinho’s present form, Liverpool are still in good position to win the Europa League or at least qualify for the competition if they finish some spots higher than their current 9th position. 2 goals and 2 assists in his last 4 league games, Barcelona can’t just ignore this quality, and a Summer raid could be on the book.
