Arsenal win at Goodison Park, but may miss star player for a while

The Gunners put up a great display away from home at the Goodison Park to reduce the points between them and Leicester City to 8 after a 2 – 0 win. But it came at a cost. Germany international, Mesut Ozil limped off with 16 minutes to go after he was tromped on by John Stones. It wasn’t supposed to be serious, given that it was accidental act on the part of the England international defender, but with the German midfielder getting replaced with Kieran Gibbs, it might just be a huge blow.

The Germany international was earlier insistent on his team’s chances of pulling off a surprise and winning the title, and he definitely put on a great display, alongside his fellow big-dreamer, Hector Bellerin. The 20-year-old assisted the 2nd goal, helping Alex Iwobi register his first EPL goal in his debut EPL start. With the 3 points giving Arsenal hope and the confidence to snatch up victories in the remaining 8 matches, Ozil’s injury would be of great concern, and it would be hoped he doesn’t get sidelined for the next game(s).

The 27-year-old leads the assist charts in the EPL with 18 assists, and would be required to be in his best shape for the remainder of the season as the Gunners hope to end on a high note. But his injury might just be the sacrifice they get to pay for earning 3 points today. Or it would be hoped it was only a temporary shocker.
