Arsenal have confirmed that the young midfielder Vlad Dragomir signed his first professional contract. The 17-year-old is widely considered to be one of the Gunners’ most promising academy prospects and the young midfielder has impressed since signing from ACS Timisoara last summer.
Arsenal official statement reads: “Everyone at Arsenal would like to congratulate Vlad on his new contract and to wish him well with his continued development at the club.”
The Romanian specialises in the Number 10 role for Arsenal under-18s, but his work-rate and technical ability mean he can also play on either flank.
Left-footed, he’s caught the eye at Arsenal with his ability to pick a pass in the final third and due to his shooting from distance.
However, he also has a decent turn of pace, is a keen dribbler and has proven himself a versatile sort – playing from the right and in a deeper midfield role.
The Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has a plethora of first-team midfielders already in position, while there are a number of youngsters – Dan Crowley, Krystian Bielik, Jeff Reine Adelaide and Chris Willock to name four – who are ahead of him in the pecking order. Considering this, his next move is more under-18 appearances, before breaking into the under-21 side.
