Arsenal and Man United go head-to-head in the transfer race for French star

Accoridng to the Metro reports Premier League giants Manchester United are stepping up their interest in Leicester City star and Arsenal transfer target N’Golo Kante.

Louis Van Gaal’s side want to rebuild their midfield this summer, with doubts over the future of a number of senior midfield players.

England international star Michael Carrick is coming towards the end of his contract, while Bastian Schweinsteiger has been linked with Fenerbahce and Ander Herrera is a rumoured target for Real Madrid.

Frenchman’s form has also seen him strongly targeted by Arsenal, but The Sun claim United are ready to hijack the move.

Ex-Reds boss Sir Alex Ferguson is a huge fan of the France international, who has been a major driving force in Leicester’s surprise title challenge this season.

Still, for all the Foxes’ success, United remain confident they can lure the 25-year-old to Old Trafford even if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Reports earlier today suggest Leicester themselves are resigned to losing Kante, or his team-mate Riyad Mahrez, this summer.
