Liverpool are preparing for a busy Summer transfer window, and Klopp is keen to boost the defence department with the arrival of highly rated Turkey international defender, Caner Erkin. Though not the most popular name in Europe as far as defenders go, but the left back is regarded as the best in his position in the Turkish league. Liverpool have plans to get the 27-year-old highly rated Fenerbahçe player, and Turkish Football confirms that his agent has confirmed a move to an elite European side like Liverpool is on the books.
Despite the presence of Alberto Moreno and Jose Enrique in the squad, Klopp is keen to get a better replacement for the duo. The latter has yet to featured in a game under the German, and will definitely be shown the exit at the end of the season. Erkin’s arrival will see the squad have reliable options, and make the squad more formidable. First choice left back, Moreno has had his faults this season, and with Klopp preparing to make Liverpool the side to beat both in England and in Europe next season, there won’t be room for errors. With his high pressing style of play requiring energy and fitness during every minute of the game, the powerful Turk will surely fit in perfectly.
Even with Caner Erkin’s agent giving Liverpool a green light, the Merseysiders aren’t alone in the pursuit of left back. Eternal rivals, Everton, Serie A side, Inter Milan, Manchester United and Arsenal are also reported to be interested in the services of the versatile defender. Erkin can also double as a defensive midfielder, and with as little as 4.2 million Pounds he would leave Turkey.
