This is the 34-goal striker Mourinho wants to bring to Old Trafford if he is appointed coach

LVG declared before the Leicester City clash how it was hard for Manchester United to attract the services of marquee players to the amazement of all and sundry. Like some other coaches, rather than attract and magnetize players to his side, the Dutch looks to be repelling them. His training and playing style still don’t go down well with a couple of first and senior team players, and that might not change next term. Not a lot of quality players will be willing to work with him, and that, alongside a lack of Champions League could hinder the Red Devils success in the coming Summer transfer market.

But provided Mourinho is (finally) appointed coach against all odds, he will surely land the big boys for next season. As revealed by Tribal Football, Argentina international and Napoli lethal goal-poacher, Gonzalo Higuain is top of the wish list of the Portuguese as far as transfer plans go. Having worked together at the Santiago Bernabeu, Mourinho is keen to link up with the striker again, and would surely have the chance to finally do so if he takes charge of the Manchester club.

Papita’s form this term has been extraordinary, and he leads the goal chart in the Serie A with 32 goals in 33 league games. Napoli look set to let him go at the end of the season as they hope to cash in big on him. Currently tied down at the side till 2018, he has a £74.9million release clause, and with Mourinho set to receive £300million transfer funds if he takes charge, triggering the clause wouldn’t be far-fetched.
